O3CASE: Operational Object Oriented CASE

O3CASE is an approach for software development which emphasizes the use of operational models throughout the life cycle. Software development consists, therefore, in building, testing and refining models within a seamless process that leads the analyst/developer from analysis to design and finally to the implementation of the system. This approach is characterized by two key factors: the modeling language(s), which must be able to cover functional, behavioral and informational aspects, and the technology, which must provide advanced support tools, such as graphical editors, code generators, simulators and application workbenches. O3CASE is made up of an editor and a simulator; they both support a modeling language, namely O3ML (Operational Object-Oriented Modeling Language) which covers the functional and the behavioral issues, addresses the informational aspects, and provides a methodology for building the architecture of models.
